MILTON, Mass. (WCVB) – Officials are urging everyone not to try this at home.
A man using a torch to melt an ice dam in his gutters accidentally set his Boston-area home on fire Friday.
The blaze started in the left front corner and quickly spread through the home in Milton.
There were no reports of injuries.
Ice dams can form in gutters at the edge of a roof, causing water to pool and leak into homes.
The homeowner later admitted to the media that this was not the right way to take care of the problem.
